BENEFITS OF CANNED FOOD


CANNED FOODS can be healthy. Imagine food being preserved and packed in or within a few miles where produce are being collected; we can be certain that foods are being canned at their freshest. And since canning requires no preservatives, we are certain that we are eating food at its best.  Since most canning facilities are located near where the food is being harvested and/or collected, the food is ensured to have been packed with all the nutrients present during its finest stage. Companies’ main consideration in situating its facilities near the place where products are harvested is CANNED FOOD HEALTH. Manufacturers, aiming to preserve the nutrients in every product, make sure the prompt preservation of every food harvested with least time consumed in the process. Food, especially fruit and vegetables, shed nutrients as it ages. If this type of food are preserved and canned in the soonest possible time, there will be minimal or no nutrient discards. Minimal conditions are chosen, defending on the product, to guarantee the product is germ-free, best-tasting and contains all the nutrients possible. Estate regulations are met and passed and should have the appropriate approval. And if all the required conditions in product shelving, we can trust that we are eating good quality food.

 

The CANNED FOOD HISTORY can be traced back to the last part of the 18th century. Napoleon Bonaparte, concerned about the eating welfare of his armies, offered a reward to whoever can develop a process to preserve food. Initially, bottles were used to preserve food but it was later on discovered that if food is heated and sealed in an airtight container, the food can prolong the period of spoilage. As the process of canning became known, the principle behind its efficiency has still remained unknown.  As it was found out that the major cause of food spoilage is microorganisms’ growth in food, scientists related this discovery to the effectiveness of canning.  Through the years, the process and principle in preserving and canning foods has not change drastically. Same process of adequate heat to obliterate microorganisms is used to sealed containers to ensure CANNED FOOD SAFETY. 


However, like most foods, CANNED FOODS has deadlines. Manufacturers use Product Dating to determine the CANNED FOOD SHELF LIFE. These deadlines are usually printed at the bottom of the can or on the product labels. This is used as reference to recognize that the food is still safe for consumption. Although other food product does not indicate an expiry date on their labels, a packing code is indicated to enable product tracking for the manufacturers.  Through this, manufacturers can order recall of products they believe are no longer safe for consumption.
